Starting Fresh

Not that long ago (literally yesterday) I put a little Instagram poll out about whether or not I should incorporate my skincare knowledge into my blog. The response was an overwhelming yes, and people have already reached out with a few topics they’d like covered!

Let me start by saying that I’m no expert, I’m not a dermatologist or certified beauty guru, heck I wasn’t even interested in skincare until a couple of years ago; but I am a girl who just like everyone else is trying to find an affordable way to have killer skin.

So where do we start?

The biggest thing to understand is that while your makeup routine can be a part of your skincare regimen they are not one in the same. My goal has always been to have great skin, so that I don’t need makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I love a fabulous beat like anyone, but for everyday I just want to be able to roll out of bed and go—with a serious glow!

That being said, while in the coming blogs I’ll be giving a break down of my morning and nightly routines as well as my favorite acne prevention measures, today I’m going to start with something very simple: Sunscreen.

I know I know, but what about summer tans?! I can hear the cries of indignation now, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting a golden hue. But just know that the fastest way to wrinkles, sun spots, freckles and even skin cancer, is sun damage.

That’s why I always incorporate sunscreen into my daily skincare routine. If the idea of putting harsh ingredients on your skin everyday for a little SPF also freaks you out, then you’re going to love my next two products:

For the face….

I love Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen because not only does it go on like a primer (goodbye white streaks), but it’s also free of harsh metals and chemicals found in normal sunscreens! And with prices starting at $16, you have no excuse to save your skin.

For the body….

Sol de Janeiro’s Bum Bum Sol Oil is a must-have for any day of tanning! It’s made with ingredients like Coconut Oil, Acai and Cupuacu Butter for natural, hydrating sun protection and an amazing scent; and the $38 price means not only will your skin will be thanking you, but so will your bank account.

I’m so excited to go on this journey with all of you! Please feel free to reach out with any topics you think I should cover.
